Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (US 980123) (MAME) on September 21, 2009
IT'S OK
MARVEL vs CAPCOM MAY BE A GOOD FIGHTING GAME, THE CONTROLES ARE EASY TO USE, THE MUSIC IS GREAT (mostley becuase the music plays the theme of each character, depending on who you are fighting)

BUT....

MARVEL vs CAPCOM, BEING THE 3rd GAME IN THE MARVEL VERSUS SERIES, HAS LESS CHARACTERS THAN PREVIOUS THE GAME (Marvel Super Heroes vs Street fighter)

FIGHTERS WHO WERE ONCE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS ARE NOW "SPECIAL PARTNERS" (supporting fighters) THAT ARE RANDOMLY SELECTED FOR YOU.

BUT THIS GAME DOES HOWEVER PLAY BETTER THAN OTHER MARVEL VERSUS GAMES...EXCEPT MARVEL vs CAPCOM 2!! NOW THAT IS A GAME YOU HAVE TO PLAY...IF YOU HAVE A DREAMCAST OR A WAY TO DOWLOAD THE GAME PLUS AN EMULATOR. OR YOU COULD ALWAYS PLAY IT AT YOUR LOCAL ARCADE.

Mortal Kombat Mythologies - Sub-zero (u) [!] (Nintendo 64) on July 30, 2009
Game makers need to make things like this more often.
When I was 12 years old I saw this game for the PSX back in 1997 at Toys'R'Us, I remember thinking to myself; "Now that is an awsome game!" I loved the MK series not because of the gameplay (StreetFighter is just as good if not better) but because of the characters and environments, this game explores that aspect of the franchise.

The gameplay is just like MKII (HighPunch, LowPunch, HighKick, LowKick, Block)

All of Sub-zero's moves are there aswell (down > foward > LowPunch, etc...)

Only one problem; becuase of the amount of 3D processing the system has to do the input lags just a bit.

I would have voted this game 8 or 9 but this N64 version (due to storage limitations) is less cinamatic but the music is still somewhat good.

Contra (KC) (Nintendo) on July 29, 2009
Best 2player adventure for the nes!!
I so happen to be South African as well, this was very popular in our country, all my friends that played this game loves it, infact, some of us still play it every once in a while. You get to play along side a friend (unlike super mario bros. where you have to take turns), there are many differant weapons to collect, side scrolling adventure with the ocasional 3rd person stages, insane bosses, sound fx that actually sounded like real gunfire and explosions (well, atleast better than most games) and very catchy music.

I mean, come on, you get to play as soldiers that look like Arnold Swartzenager and sylvester stallone, when you shoot people they explode, when you die you can take a life from your friend (with his permission or it could cause conflict) and you get to kill (Spoiler alert) Aliens that look like the ones from the "Alien" films

I'm gonna try to say this carefully so that I dont exagerate; This game is possibly the best NES game of all time when it comes to 2 player adventures. the only bad thing I could think about this game is that some of the stages are a little repetative, but thats OK because the scenery is different for every stage ^_^

I give it a 9/10

Street Fighter EX Plus (USA 970311) (MAME) on July 25, 2009
One of the Best SF games of all time
Extreme players felt that "Super Street Fighter II Turbo" is one of the best one-on-one fighting games of all time. But for a casual player, it is very challenging and perhaps unbeatable.(even with unlimited continues)

SF:EX plus is actually a much better game in my opinion than any other SF game (excluding the new SF4) I will list the reasons;

(1) The AI is'nt insanly agressive like "Super Street Fighter II" unless you face Akuma. (but to be worthy to face him you would have to prove to be very good anyways)

(2) The AI dosnt consistantly display INSTANT reflexes but it instead trys to emulate the reflexes of a human player (in short- the AI dosnt cheat by doing things that only a computer can do)

(3) This game is in 3D running at 60fps, a higher frame rate allows the player to see oncomming attacks (which gives lee-way for a block) rather than the very jerky instant attacks felt in previous 2D Street Fighter games.

(4) The Sound FXs are great!! And the music is just brilliant! Especially when you face Ryu, Ken, Chun-li and Sakura,

(5) The new characters are actually quite good (unlike many of the new characters in SFIII) also some of our favorite (old) characters are there too.

(6) The Artwork and stage backgrounds are very good. Unfortunatly EX2 isnt as good as the 1st EX

(7) Chun-li's moves are much easier to perform because the "Charge" sequences have been removed.

This game was so fun when I was a kid, BUT I am only giving it a 9/10 because "SF:EX plas alpha" for the playstation is much better becasue you get to play team, survival, etc.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy (u) (v1.2) [!] (Nintendo 64) on July 22, 2009
Best MK game in ROM form!
MKT is the game that corrected some of the things that MK3 lacked, for instance MK1 and MK2 were very popular not just becasue of its intence violence and speed but also the characters, dont get me wrong I love MK3, actually I liked its gameplay more than the 2 previous ones, but some of the characters were missing like Scorpion, Raiden and Johny Cage. I mean, thats like not having Chun-li and Guile in Street fighter. But luckely those missing characters are back!

MKT for the N64 isnt identical to the original PlayStation, Saturn and PC versions due to the N64s cartrige limitations but it is the closest one you can get in ROM form, but this shouldnt even be called a trilogy because none of the MK1 characters exist unlike the PlayStation version.

but overall its still better than an MK1, MK2, MK3 or even an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 game on its own. I give it 9/10 stars.

Hook (E) (Nintendo) on July 22, 2009
Hook!! more than just a "get from point A to point B" type of game
Hook for the Nintendo Entertainment System (Famicom) is one of the most unique and most entertaining games found on the system. Point of the game is to fight your way through Never Land to reach Caiptain Hook, aswell as to collect several key items needed for future obsticles while others are there to aid you in your quest. This version of the game doesnt completley stay true to the Steven Speilburg film, it however expands on the Peter Pan universe where you will have to face pirates, lost boys, Gosts, and even wild animals. Although the gameplay is rather simple (due to the systems limitations) the enviorments are clevely designed full of little objects to kill time with from throwing basket balls through hoops to skating on banna peals tossed by monkeys. the graphics are serprisingly good with several full screen illistrations of the characters (most notibly Hook himself in the main menu and tinkabell giving you hints throuout the game)

The game may have it's flaws, but its worth playing.
