Old school excellence
One of the best platform game one could ever play, may seem a bit fast to begin with but soon you wouldn't want it any other way. True old school brillence.
Sengoku 2 (NeoGeo CD), by neogeoowner - September 1, 2014
Pointless since 3 came out
Sengoku 2 was never one of the best looking Neo Geo games even back in the day. It hasn't aged well and looks terrible next to Sengoku 3 and the Capcom arcade beat em ups. The neo geo was capable of more. It is like their artist was on vacation when ...
Sengoku 3 (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 31, 2014
One of the best beat em ups
Almost all of the lists of "the best arcade beat em ups" are really a list of Capcoms beat em ups with a few Konami games thrown in. Now Capcom made some great beat em ups but so did SNK. The Neo Geo was almost exclusively for fighting games. Sengoku...
Double Dragon II - The Revenge (World) (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 12, 2014
not nearly as good as the 1st one
I remember the first time I played double Dragon 2 in the arcades when I was a kid, I thought the controls were broken. In those days, it was unusual for arcades buttons to be wired up wrong, be broken or sometimes not even have the right number.
Soccer Brawl (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 12, 2014
fun and less serious soccer games
There are plenty of serious soccer simulations on home consoles these days, with realistic graphics and animation, plus all of the well known football teams to choose from. The problem is that they are not that much fun for non-soccer fans.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time (US 4 Players ver. UAA) (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 11, 2014
much better than the tv show
I was never a fan of the stupid cartoon or any of the movies but this game, in the arcades, was addictive. It allowed you and 3 friends to play at the same time and was actually a lot of fun. They made tnmt games for the home consoles but, in those d...
Captain Commando (World 911014) (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 9, 2014
a lot of fun
Those of use who used to play these games in the arcades will remember that they offered huge sprites and generally superior graphics to anything ported to a home console. Captain Commando has the elements that you are looking for from a classic arca...
Viewpoint (MAME), by neogeoowner - August 8, 2014
Shame it doesn't work on mame
Viewpoint looks like a 3d shooter made with polygons but the angular 3d ships were actually 2d sprites that took advantage of the Neo Geo's excellent (and at the time, unique) sprite scaling. It was ahead of it's time but that is not what I remember ...

This game are actually very very good. Long run, various power ups (and there's shop too), various world stage, and good story. The game play also not very hard, i can say its just normal. Kind like Zelda, but in side scrolling. This actually only av...

just another beat em up
I\'ve not played this for a while and i dare say most people that do play this game will find that it\'s just like a few other (beat em up\'s> like3 SOR or final fight ish type games.this does a nice job in the graphics set in a pow camp at the start...

Wave Race 64 (u) (v1.1) [!] (Nintendo 64), by Christdave123 - November 18, 2012
With a couple minor adjustments, a pretty freakin\' nice game!
Wave Race 64 for what it is rocks the N64 system. Graphics are fairly smooth and depending on the controller you\'re using, possibly with a couple tweaks to the button config, steering and performing stunts can be a piece of cake. For fans of the Jet...
Mega Man (U) (Nintendo), by uchuu - October 29, 2012
Megaman 1 the best
I never got to play Megaman for real when I was a kid. I saw a friend of mine playing MegamanII and beating the last boss so I could see the ending of the game. This ending got stuck in my head, I remember it until this day although not clearly, also...
Brain Lord (U) [!] (Super Nintendo), by uchuu - October 29, 2012
A very nice game
Brain Lord is a good choice to go if you want to try out a somewhat different action RPG. (no big spoilers)
The fighting system is interesting and I´d say new for its time. Your character moves and attacks similar to Zeldas Link, but you can make ...
Pang (World) (MAME), by nikman - September 30, 2012
I hated this one
I never liked this one as a kid because my genre was \"beat em up\". Later, when I grew older and when I got MAME, I gave it a chance.
Pang is arcade game where you have to break big bobble into smaller ones, and so on until you destroy it complet...

For me, this one belong to the top
Side scrolling beat em up game which with a lot of skill can be finished with one coin.
I played this one as a kid. You play some Bruce Lee clone guy/s and you are on the mission to save American president Ronald Reagan from the hords of ninjas. Y...
Double Dragon (Japan) (MAME), by nikman - September 30, 2012
This one is legendary
I think that this one was the best game in the genre of beat em up.
The secret of this game popularity lies in a fact that fighting was done so nicley and realistic. It was pure brawling. I mean, in what other game you kick opponent in the face, t...
Final Fight (World) (MAME), by nikman - September 30, 2012
In the era of beat em up, this one was maybe the best!
The only bad thing about this game is that I never managed to finish it with one coin. It was too hard for that. Even today when I have MAME, I can get to the last stage, but that is my maximum. Last stage is really hard. On some places you will have...
