Coin-Op to Console by blksuperman2 on February 11, 2009
The First Mortal Kombat was majorly huge. It was the first fighting game to realisticly depict violent acts. The downside is that w/ it's success came the EPA rating that we're forced to adhere to today. This version was the best but was too late. I remember getting this and the MK2 32X version around the time MK3 was in the arcade.
best fighting game of his time by puertowd on February 5, 2009
Gorgeous, the soundtrack is as it should be, CD-quality. Standard blood and gore, mix this with SNES quality graphics and you have Arcade quality Kombat. Perhaps Arcade could be accomplished if they made a SegaCD 32X version, that would surely beat the crap out of the 'kiddy' SNES version. ;-)

i really love it was the first to nearly simulate arcade not codes to get realism.

Mortal Kombat!!!!!!! by nickyg on January 25, 2009
Anybody who likes fighter platforms will know what Mortal Kombat is. Even if someone doesn't play many games, they'll probably know what this game is. This game has produced a huge franchise right from the kick-off in a much simpler fighter game at the time, with seven fighters, a few arenas, and the desire to knock the life out of the other guy to be declared the winner. The series has made many new sequels (including the new Shaolin Monks adventure), a TV series and even two movies that are well worth watching.

THis is the best fighter game in the history of videogames. It is a game that I find my self revisting again and again. I like the fact that the game resembles the arcade version but looks better. The graphics and sound are better yet the classic style is still their.

Mortal combat is a arcade classic and looks great on the sega cd.the conversion from the arcade to sega cd only lacked a little.the sound track made up for that with amazing sound quility and the few graphic improvments to keep you interested.

Best console version in its time ... by Fog9 on August 7, 2008
On the sgea cd, it actually makes a pretty close port of the arcade version and is also better than the genesis/super nintendo counterparts. Colors are more vivid and the sound is more true to the original arcade version.
