this was the best MK game ever made, it improved on everything in MK1 and allot of detail went into every aspect of the game, from fatalities, stage fatalities and added friendship and babality finales.
(everything went down hill in MK3 with the finicky button system (run..) and shabby "paint by numbers" combo system added, it was ok but not as well crafted as MK2)
Kintaro was by far the best boss to fight in the whole series and the crowd cheering when he beat you to a pulp was a nice touch. shan tsung was a great addition and overall characters were balanced in game play. (apart from the first version of the game which was really just a beta released to the public)
TIP: before the "? mark stage" use low kick only (and no block) to defeat the enemy and then you will be transported to the MK1 Goro stage to fight Jade, don't worry if she defeats you as you will get the chance to continue either way and when you continue you will be able to reselect you character after this stage and for the sake of just finishing the game Kitana is the number one boss killer, with her fan waves and jumping fan throw after a drop kick, the AI often saw the bosses (Kintaro and Shao Kahn) walk straight into her fan waves more often then not, just make sure you are a close as you can before you set the move off.
TIP:Also if you want to see a cliché as shan tsung when doing a fatality turn into sub zero and do his two part super freeze fatality, do the super freeze a couple of times extending the fatality timer (F,F,D HK at mid distance)until you turn back in shan tsung then turn into jax and do the head clap fatality the defeated character will turn all sorts of funny colors, (don't worry, this will not crash the game).
Best MK game ever, hands down, and stood out for its time, I spent a whole year playing this thing after school with friends, many great memories :D
